I started tutoring chemistry as a work study student in 1975 (freshman). Graduated in 1979, BA major chemistry, minor math. Taught all 4 years. Continued teaching as a part-time instructor while working as an analytical chemist. I resigned my position after eight years to enter graduate school (U of Colorado, Boulder) in 1986, graduated PhD in inorganic chemistry 1990.
