I graduated Summa cum Laude from Bryn Mawr College with a BA in chemistry, after which I worked for several years as an analytical chemist at Merck (a Fortune 500 pharmaceutical company). I received my doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in evolutionary and developmental biology.
